Description

It’s one of those nights: (or mornings, or afternoons) it’s raining again (or still?), the heater is buzzing, you got your winter sweaters from the attic, and you’re craving something comforting but you don’t feel like spending hours in the kitchen to make it. Here’s an idea: this Camembert, fig and balsamic cream toastie on garlic bread is exactly what you need on a day like this!

Scale

Ingredients

  • 4 slices of white bread
  • 50 grams of camembert cheese
  • 2 figs (fresh – it’s the season!)
  • 1 tbsp of balsamic cream (or balsamic vinegar and honey if you don’t have the cream)
  • Garlic butter

Instructions

  1. Put garlic butter on the outsides of the bread.
  2. Flip the bread.
  3. Put Camembert on one slice of bread.
  4. Cut the figs in slices and place on top of the Camembert.
  5. Sprinkle the balsamic cream on top.
  6. If you don’t have balsamic cream, before putting the figs on the bread, make sure to let them soak a minute or two in balsamic vinegar. You can add some honey to it (to the mixture or on top of the toastie separate) to make your own balsamic vinaigrette.
  7. Close the toastie.
  8. Grill – keep watching the toastie! Camembert is tricky and will quickly disappear after reaching its perfect texture point!
  9. Take off the grill carefully. Be especially careful with the “leaking” cheese. Cut diagonally – now admire that leaking cheese 🙂
  10. Enjoy!
