Description

Goooood morning! Hello, fellow sunshiners! Are you ready for a brand new day? We are! We just discovered the secret recipe to start every day off on the right foot… it’s with Bacon, Egg and Cheese Breakfast Toasties! Yay! Did the thought of that already bring a smile to your face? Check out this recipe and really kick-start your morning!

Scale

Ingredients

  • 3 slices of bread
  • 1 egg
  • 2 slices of cheese
  • 5 thin slices of bacon
  • butter

Instructions

  1. First, take out three slices of bread.
  2. On two of those, spread butter and flip them over.
  3. Take the third slice and cut out the middle. You want to be close to the edges, but not too close that they might break. Anywhere close to half an inch (1-1,5 cm) should be fine. You can either go ahead and eat the middle part or feed the ducks with it.
  4. Spread butter on one side of the bread frame that is left.
  5. Now, put two slices of cheese on one of the regular slices of bread. Put the bread frame on top of it (with the buttery side on the cheese).
  6. Make sure the grill is preheated sufficiently and put the slices of bacon on the grill. Grill until they start to bubble and look crispy (to your liking), turn around, grill some more and take them off.
  7. Here’s the catch: don’t clean the grill! And leave the bacony juices for the bread. Put the toastie on the grill. (At this point, the toastie is only one slice of bread, cheese, and the bread-frame.
  8. Take an egg, yes, raw. Break it open and drop the egg in the bread-frame.
  9. Put the crispy bacon on top of the bread-frame and the egg, and finish it with the top layer of bread. (buttery side up!)
  10. Carefully press the sandwich press down onto the toastie. Not too much because you don’t want the egg to go running!
  11. Here comes the tricky part: patience! Because you want to make sure that the egg is thoroughly cooked, you’ll have to let this toastie on the grill for quite a bit. Depending on how heat the grill gets, it could be anywhere between 8-10 minutes (or anywhere between a cooked egg and not-burned bread). We secretly lift the lit every now and then to see how our beauty is doing.
  12. When ready (after checking!), take the toastie out of the grill and place on a cutting board. Cut diagonally, enjoy watching the yolk and cheese drizzle out of the toastie and finish with a drop or two of Tabasco or ketchup.
