Description
It’s the secret to a great start to the day. Really all you need is a blueberry muffin and a steaming’ cup of coffee when you’re on your way to work, right? And the secret of great blueberry muffins is butter and blueberries. That sounds like something you could eat on a toastie! Turn your bread into French toast and this toastie becomes something otherworldly delicious and luxurious!
Scale
Ingredients
- 4 slices of white bread
- 4 tablespoons of blueberry jam
- 1 egg
- 5 ml of milk
- 15 grams of vanilla flavoured sugar
- 2 teaspoons of cinnamon
- Butter
Instructions
- Take a bowl. Crack an egg (in the bowl) and add the milk. Stir with a fork or whisk until well mixed.
- Pour the mixture on a plate. Make sure it’s flat.
- On another plate, mix half of the vanilla sugar with half of the cinnamon. Stir or shake to mix.
- Grab two slices of bread and spread some (a lot of some!) blueberry jam on the bread. You can add more blueberries if you want to. If you are using just fresh blueberries, hold on!
- If you’d like to use “crustless” bread, make sure to cut off the crusts before you add the blueberry jam.
- Place the second slice of bread on top of the other one.
- Grab the bread and place it in the egg mixture. Let it sit for a bit so that it can absorb it well. Then flip and let sit again.
- If you’re using fresh blueberries, you want to drench the bread slice by slice on both sides. You can add the blueberries after drenching the bread and you can even press them into the bread so that it will even look like a real muffin!
- When the bread is drenched, grab it and place it on the other plate. Swirl it around so that it is nicely (and equally) covered with the sugar-cinnamon mixture. Turn around and so the same with the other side.
- Butter matters. Now, here’s the important part of the recipe: Make sure you add some butter onto the grill. Place the toastie onto the grill and add some more butter on top of the toastie. This really doesn’t have to be a lot, just enough to make sure you’ll get that muffin-y flavor.
- Close the grill, press if you want to and wait until done.
- Take the toastie out of the grill, carefully. Cut diagonally, carefully. And sprinkle some powdered sugar on top of the toastie. Garnish with extra blueberries and add more blueberry jam on the side in a cute little bowl.
- ENJOY!
