Description

Smoked salmon on a sandwich? Yes. Smoked salmon on a toasted sandwich? Double yes! This combination of salty, smoked salmon and the sour bite of capers is such a delicious combination. The cream cheese gives this toastie it’s toastie-like creamy touch. A healthy, easy and delicious recipe!

Scale

Ingredients

  • 4 slices of white bread
  • 150 grams of smoked salmon (slices)
  • 100 grams of cream cheese
  • 30 grams of capers
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
  • Optional: chives for decoration

Instructions

  1. Take the cream cheese. Squeeze the juice of half a lemon. Cut the chives in small parts. Put everything in a bowl and stir until well blended.
  2. Two options: cut the capers with a knife on a cutting board until nice and small, or put the capers in a grinder and grind until they have burst.
  3. One way or another, add them to the cream cheese mixture.
  4. Grab a slice of bread. Add butter to both slices and turn around.
  5. Assemble your toastie! Spread a nice layer of cream cheese on both slices.
  6. Add the smoked salmon. And put the toastie together (that means putting the second slice on top of the assembled slice)
  7. Place your toastie onto the grill and let the heat do its magic. Grilling should take about 5 minutes, depending on the grill or toastie-maker that you are using.
  8. Take out carefully and cut diagonally. Feeling artsy? Sprinkle some extra chives, crunched capers and lemon zest over the toastie/plate.
  9. Not needed, always recommended: ketchup!
